Skip Schumaker

Skip Schumaker.jpg

Skip went to Aliso Niguel High School and I remember my coach being really impressed with him. He could run and swing it, but he was tiny at the time. Well, he went off to college and transfered at least once before getting hurt and not really playing till his final year. He got his chance to play and show what he could do and now has a Wold Series ring.

Shawn Green

I was a freshman when he was a senior and I didn't actually play against him. However, I did watch play and I also use to go to his parents batting cages in Tustin all the time. His parents were great people who use to give me free token to hit because they knew I was a high school kid. They probably thought I went to Tustin high but I didn't want to correct them because they were giving me free swings. Anyway, the story I heard and I am not sure is true says that he wanted a lot of money for his signing bonus. The Blue Jays were not on the same page and Green told them he'd just go to college then. Stanford is a pretty good back up plan and he had the grades. Well, the story that I was told said on his way to his first class at Stanford the guy from the Blue Jays was there with his check.

Troy Glaus

Glaus was all world in high school went on to play at UCLA before being drafted by the Angels with their first pick. He and Adkins were teammates at UCLA. In high school he tore it up and I think he might of been player of the year for the county.

Mike Hessman

Mike Hessman went to Mater Dei and was an amazing high school player. Here is a guy who has tasted the show a few times but hasn't stuck yet and just keeps on working. If you look at his minor league stats, you have to wonder why no one has a spot for him.
