Chris Lewis - Stanford - Signed with the Angels - I coached Chris his senior year when I was at Northwood High School. He was a great athlete with good power for a middle infield guy.

Tom Gray - University of Pacific - As a high school player Tommy had all the potential in the world on the mound being 6'6". He was a guy who made himself a pitcher by all his hard work and his grades got him into U.P.

Kevin Conlin - UCLA - Kevin was my high school coach's son. I came back to Uni to coach one year when he was a freshman. Kevin was a kid who grew up around the game and his dad is a great coach who preached the game to him from the womb. I really had nothing to do with Kevin's development but I remember him working out with us on varsity when he was stil a elementary school and junior high kid. He was a guy who knew what he wanted and was always willing to listen and watch.

Eric Foxman - Cal State Northridge - Foxman was around when I came back to Uni and he had a great arm.

Ian K. Stewart - 1st Round Draft Pick by the Rockies - I had nothing to do with him being such a great player. He is a product of Dave Demorist, one of the greatest high school coaches I have ever seen coach. The thing I remember about Stewart was how many questions he had for me when I showed up at La Quinta. He was a guy who had all the talent in the world and knew what he wanted from the game. He was constantly asking me questions about playing college baseball and about my experiences.

Tyrus Powe - North Dakota State - I coached Tyrus at Uni as a freshman and he was pretty much your average, clumbsy kid. However, he grew into his big feet and spent so much time working after practice in the cage. He made himself great and found himself a place to play.

Ian Kennedy - USC - 1st Round Draft Pick of the Yankees - Here is another La Quinta guy that I had really nothing to do with. He was a guy who was a normal high school kid until he stepped between the lines, then he became a man. He was something special to watch play the game in high school.

Mark Haderlein - Cal State Northridge - Mark might be one of my favorite stories. He was a guy who had one goal, play college baseball. He was just a guy in high school and didn't play much on varsity for us at Northwood. He went to two differnt JCs and in that time, grew into his body and did a great job at Coast. Mark was a guy who never lost sight of his goal and just kept on working. Out of all the kids I have coached, I might be the most proud of him.
